Timia Thomas leads a balanced attack to beat Green Valley

The Silverado Skyhawks have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They escaped with a win on Tuesday against Green Valley by the margin of a single free throw, 35-34. That's two games straight that Silverado has won by exactly a single point.

Silverado's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Timia Thomas led the charge by scoring three points along with ten steals and five assists. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Kingsley Jones was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Olivia Patai and Gianessa Vazquez certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Patai scored 11 points along with six rebounds, while Vazquez scored nine points along with six rebounds. Vazquez scored a full 26.5% of Green Valley's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Silverado's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-11. As for Green Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.

Silverado will be playing in front of their home fans against Doral Academy Red Rock at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Doral Academy Red Rock is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Green Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Rancho at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
