Basketball Recap: Durant Takes a Loss

Durant lost against Plant back in January of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Durant Cougars were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to the Plant Panthers. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Durant had strong showings from Kassie Longanecker, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 17 points and six steals, and Icyss Lopez, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and three steals. Longanecker has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brinkley Marsh, who had seven points.

Leading Plant to victory were Madelyn Galuski and Sanae Graham. Galuski went 8 of 17 en route to 22 points and seven boards, while Graham dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Galuski a new career-high in points.

Durant's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Plant, their victory bumped their record up to 10-13.

Durant will be taking part in a tournament against Tampa Bay Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Plant, they will take on Newsome in a tournament on Thursday.
