Basketball Game Preview: Mendota Trojans vs. Ottawa Pirates

Mendota hasn't had much luck against Ottawa recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mendota Trojans will challenge the Ottawa Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Mendota is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

While Mendota didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Sandwich on Saturday, sneaking past 43-40.

Meanwhile, Ottawa was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 65-44 to Marmion. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pirates have suffered since February 21, 2024.

Ottawa's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Mendota, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Mendota came up short against Ottawa in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 47-39. Can Mendota avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
