Basketball Recap: Oak Ridge Takes a Loss

Oak Ridge lost against Knoxville Catholic back in February of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wildcats took a 63-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fighting Irish. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Fighting Irish are ranked eighth).

Cade Murphy had another great game (as he tends to do), going 7-for-13 to rack up 14 points along with eight boards and six assists for Knoxville Catholic. Murphy is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season. Landon Lee was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Oak Ridge now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Knoxville Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

Oak Ridge and Whites Creek will round out the year against one another at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Knoxville Catholic will wrap up 2025 with a road trip to face off against Whitehaven on Monday. The Fighting Irish will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
