Basketball Recap: Clinton Takes a Loss

Clinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes and fell 81-44. If the Dark Horses were looking for revenge after losing 66-36 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Clinton still got an impressive performance from Taylen Moore, who went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points and eight boards. The dominant performance also gave Moore a new career-high in assists (two). Another player making a difference was Henry Bass, who went 6 for 12 to rack up 13 points.

Fairmont's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Cummings, who posted 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Xavier Johnson was another key player, putting up 18 points and five assists.

Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Fairmont, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.

Clinton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-62 defeat against St. Pauls on the 29th. As for Fairmont, they have also already played their next matchup, a 68-29 win against Red Springs on the 31st.
