York County Tech is 0-9 against Bermudian Springs since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Spartans will face off against the Eagles at 4:15 p.m.
York County Tech is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Fairfield.
Tyler Quickel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Wagman, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Bermudian Springs came tearing into Wednesday's match with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Thunderbolts get on the board and left with a 3-0 win.
Not much got past Branson Diller, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Littlestown off the board. Diller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lane Hubbard, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ayden Knight, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Bermudian Springs hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Littlestown struck out 13 times.
Bermudian Springs pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for York County Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
York County Tech suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Bermudian Springs in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
