Basketball Recap: South Milwaukee Takes a Loss

South Milwaukee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Whitnall Falcons and fell 80-14. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while the Falcons are ranked 62nd).

It was another big night for Riley Ward, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards for Whitnall. Ward is crushing it when it comes to points: she's scored at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ella Koch, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

South Milwaukee's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Whitnall, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

South Milwaukee will venture away from home to challenge Milwaukee Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whitnall, they are on the road again on Saturday to play Saint Anthony/Milw Ronald Reagan/Golda Meir at 10:00 a.m.
