Football Game Preview: Dixie Hornets vs. Ware Shoals Hornets

Dixie is 9-1 against Ware Shoals since August of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Dixie will head out to challenge Ware Shoals at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ware Shoals will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Dixie extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Hornets simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Whitmire 49-12. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Dixie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brandon Nance led the charge by rushing for 132 yards and three scores on only eight carries. Nance is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last six games he's played. Dixie also got a significant boost from Dallas Dotson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Dixie was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 360 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Ware Shoals never let their opponents score on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 48-0 win over McCormick. The Hornets pushed the score to 42-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Chiefs had no chance of recovering from.

One reason for the win was Ware Shoals' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. McCormick's QB won't forget Trent Dyal anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Ware Shoals got some further help from Elijah Brown: he made 17 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Dixie's record is now 6-1. As for Ware Shoals, their record now sits at 7-0.

Dixie strolled past Ware Shoals in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 28-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dixie since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
