Softball Recap: Juanita Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Liberty

Juanita faced Liberty in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Juanita fell just short of Liberty by a score of 7-6. The Ravens were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Elliott Parker put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, Calista Labugen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. That home run was her first of the season.

Even though they lost, Juanita lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Juanita's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Liberty, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Juanita will square off against Mercer Island at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Liberty, they will take on Lake Washington at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Washington has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.4 runs per game on average), something Liberty will no doubt try to take advantage of.
