Beresford is 9-1 against Alcester-Hudson since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Beresford Watchdogs will challenge the Alcester-Hudson Cubs at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Beresford was beaten by Vermillion 61-34. The loss continues a trend for the Watchdogs in their matchups with the Tanagers: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Alcester-Hudson played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 59-24 loss at the hands of Freeman. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Flyers are ranked 36th).

Beresford's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Alcester-Hudson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-14.

Everything came up roses for Beresford against Alcester-Hudson when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Beresford since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
