Baseball Recap: Fort Meade Comes Up Short

Fort Meade has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They lost 13-3 to the Lakeland Christian Vikings. The Miners haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Fort Meade saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Pheiffer, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Andrew Brooks was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Fort Meade's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Lakeland Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Fort Meade didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-0 loss against George Jenkins on the 9th. As for Lakeland Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-4 victory against McKeel Academy on the 10th.
