Baseball Recap: Houston Triumphs

Houston came out on top against Norwood on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Pirates 8-6. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 11-6 win the Pirates walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Aaden Scantlin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Jasper McCloy was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Jackson Morgan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Houston's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Norwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houston will take on Thayer at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Norwood, they will challenge Hartville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
