Diablo Valley recap November 19, 2013
Clayton Valley Charter extended the longest winning streak in Diablo Valley this week by beating San Lorenzo, 62-7. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
Concord moved up to 303 from 329 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Minutemen were able to move up by besting Newark Memorial 50-25.
Eric Haynes was a force in the backfield as Northgate bested College Park.
Haynes provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Broncos defeated the Falcons. Haynes' key target this week was Nick Mastrelli, who caught 2 passes for 26 yards.
Kyle Austin and Haynes gave Northgate a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Austin threw for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Haynes ran for 262 yards. Mastrelli also contributed to the rushing game with 32 yards on the ground.
Concord's MITCH DANIELS and MASON KNIGHT have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback DANIELS has thrown for 2,607 yards this season, while KNIGHT has 72 catches for 1,055 yards. Haynes from Justin Lowell's team leads the league in rushing with 1,688 yards.
Jake Smith of the the Broncos' is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 79 receiving yards in this week's game against Miramonte to get there. So far this year, he has acheived 50 catches for 921 yards.
Clayton Valley Charter took down the Rebels 62-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Gabe Taylor threw for 116 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 33 yards in the win.
