Baseball Recap: Ann Sobrato Has No Trouble Against Hill

Ann Sobrato had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Hill on Thursday. The Ann Sobrato Bulldogs blew past the Hill Falcons 13-1. That looming 13-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.

JJ Pina tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Ann Sobrato got a massive performance out of Vince Pomo, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Pomo has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Bettencourt, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Ann Sobrato's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Ann Sobrato will take on North Monterey County at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (North Monterey County 3.1, Ann Sobrato 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Hill, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Hill Falcons take on Oak Grove Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oak Grove has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.57 runs per game on average), something Hill will no doubt try to take advantage of.
