Volleyball Recap: Horizon Honors Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Horizon Honors was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Horizon Honors sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-22, 23-25, 25-14, 21-25, 15-12.

Jaila Housh paced Horizon Honors' offense, picking up 11 kills. Housh got some help from Gabby Dupnik and her 36 assists. Makayla Aaron and Audrey Anglada kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Leading Scottsdale Preparatory Academy to victory were Sophia Lee and Brielle Amarel. Lee had 12 digs and seven aces, while Amarel had ten digs and three aces. That's the most digs Amarel has posted over her last six matches. Chloe Crandall also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Horizon Honors' loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Horizon Honors is taking a road trip to face off against Scottsdale Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, they will take on Greenway in a tournament on Friday.
