Basketball Recap: Waterbury Career Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Sierra Brown and Malinna Figueroa

Waterbury Career Academy lost against Ansonia back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Waterbury Career Academy Spartans took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ansonia Chargers.

Malinna Figueroa and Sierra Brown certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Figueroa posted 11 points and eight steals, while Brown dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds. Brown has become a key player for Waterbury Career Academy: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least eight boards, but 4-9 otherwise. Jenaya Bracey was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Waterbury Career Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Ansonia, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
