Basketball Game Preview: Seattle Prep Panthers vs. Mt. Spokane Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers take on the Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Seattle Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They beat Liberty by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 78-59. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Mt. Spokane had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 79-56 victory. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th in Washington, while the Bears are ranked 81st in Washington), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mt. Spokane pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points over those games. As for Seattle Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 18-10.

Seattle Prep beat Mt. Spokane 76-69 when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Will Seattle Prep repeat their success, or does Mt. Spokane have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
