Claiborne Academy hasn't had much luck against Prairie View Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rebels will head out to challenge the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Claiborne Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Prairie View Academy likes a good challenge.
Claiborne Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Union Christian Academy to the tune of 58-18 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Claiborne Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cade Smith, who rushed for 61 yards and one touchdown, and also caught one TD. Another back making a difference was Dylan Buckner, who gained 81 total yards and three touchdowns.
Claiborne Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kyler Monk, Kade Suggs, and Buckner picked up one apiece. Buckner got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Prairie View Academy faced River Oaks in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Spartans lost 46-26 to the Mustangs. The matchup marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Claiborne Academy will have to contain Hayden Little as he made an impact in Prairie View Academy's last game. He rushed for 74 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 98 yards and a pair of TDs.
Having lost for the first time this season, Prairie View Academy fell to 7-1. As for Claiborne Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.

Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Monk and Little. Monk just won't slow down this season and has thrown 14 touchdowns (and no picks) while averaging 105.6 passing yards per game. Little has been a dominant force too and has thrown 16 touchdowns (and and only 1 picks) while averaging 95.7 passing yards per game.
Claiborne Academy suffered a grim 57-36 defeat to Prairie View Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Little, who threw for 162 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 116 yards and one score on only eight carries. Now that the Rebels know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
