Football Recap: Evergreen Valley Takes a Loss

If Evergreen Valley was riding high fresh off their 34-0 takedown of Hill last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell 26-14 to the San Jose Bulldogs on Friday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

San Jose's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Omar Gomez, who rushed for 116 yards, and also picked up 34 receiving yards and one TD. Another rusher making a difference was Bryan Santos Cortez, who rushed for 119 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries.

Evergreen Valley now has a losing record of 4-5. As for San Jose, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Evergreen Valley has already played their next contest, a 42-26 victory against Independence on the 6th. As for San Jose, they will challenge Mt. Pleasant at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 892 yards in their previous games.
