Baseball Recap: Cotulla Drops Highest Score of Season Against Dilley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cotulla). Everything went their way against the Dilley Wolves on Tuesday as they made off with a 25-10 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Frank Torres made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Davyn Deltoro was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Medina, who scored a run while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.

Cotulla always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cotulla's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8-1. As for Dilley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.

Cotulla will head out to challenge Hondo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Owls have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Dilley, they will host Crystal City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
