Mt. Vernon had won three straight games and Kamaree Pollard did her part to make it four on Saturday. The Mt. Vernon Rams pulled ahead with a 59-58 photo finish over the Marion Wildcats thanks in part to Pollard, who went 10 of 21 en route to 30 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.
The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Rudd, who posted two points and nine rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played.
Mt. Vernon's record is now 19-3. As for Marion, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
Mt. Vernon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 77-22 win against Cahokia on the 28th. Marion has also already played their next match, a 48-43 victory against Centralia on the 28th.
