Softball Recap: Lincoln Comes Up Short

Lincoln was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sardis Lions.

Lincoln saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Cameron Pruitt also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 23-16-1. As for Sardis, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-11 record this season.

Lincoln will take on Belgreen in a tournament on Friday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Golden Bears surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sardis, they will be taking part in a tournament against Madison County at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 3.4, the Tigers 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
