Recap: Marionville Comets vs. Cassville Wildcats
Make it 12 blowout wins for the Marionville Comets this season. They blew past Cassville 55-35. Given Marionville's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Cassville is ranked 362nd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lucy Newberry was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Murphy, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Marionville and bumps their season record up to 13-3. As for Cassville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marionville will challenge Sarcoxie at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cassville, they will head out on the road to face off against Spokane on Friday.
