Basketball Recap: Brynnli Bryson Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

Dayspring Christian Academy's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 47-35 victory over the Lyons Lions. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Dayspring Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brynnli Bryson out in front who posted nine points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. Bryson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Perman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Dayspring Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lyons only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Vasquez, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Vasquez a new career-high in assists (four). Leah Shelton also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Dayspring Christian Academy pushed their record up to 6-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Lyons, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-3.

Dayspring Christian Academy will take on Bishop Machebeuf at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lyons, they will challenge SkyView Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. SkyView Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Lyons surely won't give up without a fight.
