Basketball Recap: Marili Derickson and Arabelle Madril Secure Win for Rampart

Rampart lost to Palmer back in December of 2021, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Rampart Rams walked away with a 34-21 victory over the Palmer Terrors. The match marked the Rams' most dominant win of the season so far.

Leading Rampart to victory were Arabelle Madril and Marili Derickson. Madril posted 15 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds, while Derickson almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Madril is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Waldrep, who scored four points.

Rampart was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmer only posted four assists.

Several Terrors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julisa Amos, who had five points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jazlynn Moreno, who earned four points and five boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Rampart and bumps their season record up to 3-5. As for Palmer, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Rampart has already played their next contest, a 47-30 defeat against Discovery Canyon on the 11th. As for Palmer, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-31 win against Pueblo Centennial on the 11th.
