Recap: Athenian Owls vs. Bentley Phoenix
The Athenian Owls can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They blew past Bentley 59-37. Given Athenian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Bentley is ranked 1048th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Athenian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Surya Devasenapathy, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Olivier, who scored 15 points.
Athenian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Bentley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-14.
Athenian will look to defend their home court on Thursday against College Prep at 5:00 p.m. Bentley will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Concord at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Concord is coming into the matchup with nine straight defeats at home, meaning Bentley will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
