Basketball Recap: Portage Takes a Loss

Portage lost against Stoughton back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Portage Warriors took a hard 65-49 fall against the Stoughton Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 413th, while the Vikings are ranked 31st).

When it comes to explaining why Portage lost, don't look at Aidan Warfield. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds. Donovan Navone was another key player, putting up ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for Portage and nudges their season record down to 1-7. As for Stoughton, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Portage will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Reedsburg at 7:15 p.m. As for Stoughton, they will head out to take on Edgewood at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Stoughton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Edgewood likes a good challenge.
