Basketball Game Preview: Seymour Wildcats vs. Platt RVT Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Seymour Wildcats duke it out with the Platt RVT Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday... Seymour knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Platt RVT likes a good challenge.

On Monday, Seymour humbled Ansonia with a 72-30 victory. The Wildcats pushed the score to 56-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Chargers had little chance of recovering from.

Joey Carrafiello was a one-man wrecking crew for Seymour as he dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. The game was Carrafiello's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robby Carrafiello, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points and six assists.

Seymour smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Platt RVT was beaten by Grasso Tech 92-55 on Thursday. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-24.

Seymour's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.5 points per game. As for Platt RVT, they now have a losing record at 0-1.

Seymour came up short against Platt RVT in their previous meeting back in January of 2016, falling 71-66. Can Seymour avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
