Baseball Recap: Liberty Wins Going Away Against Berea

Liberty never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Berea Bulldogs. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Ethan Carroll was a standout: he scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Liberty's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-2 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). T.J. Borow was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Liberty pushed their record up to 7-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Berea, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Liberty is taking a road trip to take on Pickens at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Berea, they will be playing at home against Seneca at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
