Basketball Recap: Independence's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Independence hadn't done well against Hernando recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 63-61. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on five straight.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Hernando, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Coming up, Independence will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lewisburg at 7:30 p.m. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Hernando, they will head out to square off against Lake Cormorant at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hernando will be up against Lake Cormorant's rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
