Baseball Recap: West Point Sets Scoring Season-High Against Redmond

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Point). They were the clear victors by a 16-10 margin over the Redmond Panthers on Thursday. With that victory, the Dragons brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

West Point got a massive performance out of Kenyer Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Martinez has become a key player for West Point: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-5-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Navarro, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

West Point is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. Redmond is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, West Point will challenge Piedra Vista at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Redmond, they will venture away from home to challenge Silverton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Silverton will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Redmond surely won't give up without a fight.
