Basketball Game Preview: Wilson Wildcats vs. North Mesquite Stallions

The Wilson Wildcats will face off against the North Mesquite Stallions at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilson will be strutting in after a win while North Mesquite will be coming in after a loss.

Wilson is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Adams 92-50 on Tuesday. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-24.

Meanwhile, North Mesquite suffered their closest defeat since November 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Seagoville by a score of 53-50.

Wilson will need focus on slowing down Marquel Mouton, one of several North Mesquite players who made an impact when they last played. He posted six points along with seven assists and six rebounds. That's the most assists Mouton has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chris Bendaw, who put up 13 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, North Mesquite was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seagoville only racked up five assists.

Wilson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for North Mesquite, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.

Wilson strolled past North Mesquite in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 51-36. Does Wilson have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Mesquite turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
