Basketball Game Preview: Lamar Consolidated Mustangs vs. Angleton Wildcats + Official Tickets

Lamar Consolidated hasn't had much luck against Angleton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will head out to challenge the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lamar Consolidated is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Wharton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Mustangs blew the Tigers out of the water with a 64-13 final score. The Mustangs have beaten the Tigers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Nyeema Harrington and Kelechi Onuegbu were among the main playmakers for Lamar Consolidated as the former dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten steals and the latter dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten steals. The dominant performance also gave Onuegbu a new career-high in blocks (two). Jadae Bates was another key player, putting up seven points along with five assists and four steals.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Angleton against Bay City on Tuesday as the squad secured a 56-18 victory.

Lamar Consolidated's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Angleton, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 2-0.

Lamar Consolidated suffered a grim 59-38 defeat to Angleton in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
