Maple Valley takes loss despite strong efforts from Jake McDonald and Ayden Wilkes

Recap: Maple Valley Lions vs. Quincy Orioles

The Maple Valley Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Quincy. Maple Valley has struggled against Quincy recently, as their match on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Maple Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ayden Wilkes, who scored 17 points, and Jake McDonald who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Maple Valley's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Brandon Miner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Quincy, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Miner also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Carter, who scored nine points.

Maple Valley bumped their record down to 4-6 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Quincy, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Maple Valley will head out on the road to take on Bronson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bronson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Maple Valley in Michigan (Bronson is ranked 206th, while Maple Valley is ranked 497th). As for Quincy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Union City at 7:00 p.m.
