The Omaha Westside Warriors will square off against the Millard North Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Omaha Westside knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Millard North likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Omaha Westside was able to grind out a solid victory over Kearney, taking the game 55-44.
Among those leading the charge was Sanai Foster, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Himayajo Metoyer, who posted 13 points along with seven boards and three steals.
Meanwhile, Millard North entered their tilt with Papillion-LaVista on Friday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victor by a 61-39 margin over the Monarchs. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.
Omaha Westside better keep an eye on Avril Smith. She was instrumental in Millard North's win, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most boards Smith has posted since back in January. Clara Welker was another key player, shooting 70% from the field to rack up 15 points.
Millard North was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Papillion-LaVista only nine assists.
Omaha Westside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points over those games. Millard North's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Omaha Westside has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Millard North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
