Softball Recap: Lakeview Victorious

Lakeview gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 14-9 victory over the Canfield Cardinals. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Jianna Shaker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Stowe, who fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Rylee Barnot was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Lakeview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive contests.

Lakeview's record is now 20-5. As for Canfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Looking ahead, Lakeview will face off against Ursuline at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Canfield, they will take on Steubenville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
