Basketball Recap: Rampart Takes a Loss

Rampart lost against Pueblo West on February 4th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Rampart Rams lost 45-24 to the Pueblo West Cyclones. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Cyclones are ranked 81st).

Pueblo West got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamie Suazo out in front who went 6-for-14 to rack up 15 points along with five boards and five steals. Suazo has become a key player for Pueblo West: the team is 8-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 4-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Payton Odell, who posted seven points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

Rampart has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. Pueblo West now has a winning record of 12-11.

Looking ahead, Rampart won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vista Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season. Pueblo West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
