Baseball Recap: East Providence Townies vs. Westerly Bulldogs

East Providence and Westerly squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but East Providence had to settle for second. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westerly Bulldogs. East Providence's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

East Providence saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Dicecco, who went 1-for-3 with a double.

On Westerly's side, not much got past Zack Miner, who gave up just seven hits to keep East Providence off the board. Miner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Grayson Simmons was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Parker, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

East Providence's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-6-1. As for Westerly, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-6-1.

As of now, neither East Providence nor Westerly have any future games scheduled.
