Softball Recap: Make It 16 in a Row for Belvidere North

Belvidere North had already won 15 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it 16 on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Guilford Vikings. Considering the Blue Thunder have won 20 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Laney Dobbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Isabelle Schadle was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallie Inman, who earned one run and four stolen bases.

Belvidere North pushed their record up to 22-9 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Guilford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-20 record this season.

Belvidere North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Guilford, they will face off against Hononegah at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
