The Cape Hatteras Hurricanes will face off against the Croatan Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Cape Hatteras is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Cape Hatteras and First Flight, and First Flight kept the tradition alive. The Hurricanes took a blow against the Nighthawks on Wednesday, falling 58-15. The matchup marked the Hurricanes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Croatan over East Carteret in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cougars blew the Mariners out of the water with a 51-13 final score. That 38 point margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.

Croatan's win came from a few key players Cape Hatteras will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Neely McMannen, who posted 12 points and three steals. McMannen is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Hannah Buchan was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Croatan was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Cape Hatteras' defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Croatan, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Cape Hatteras was taken down by Croatan 52-25 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Hurricanes were down 36-6.
