Baseball Recap: West Florence Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

West Florence had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Irmo Yellow Jackets with a sharp 15-5 victory. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

Cooper Coleman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Avery Weaver and Chase Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Weaver got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Anderson went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Anderson has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Carson Haynes, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

West Florence's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Irmo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season.

As of now, neither West Florence nor Irmo have any future games scheduled.
