Preview: Pensacola Tigers vs. Escambia Gators

Pensacola has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Escambia Gators at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Pensacola focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.

On Thursday, Pensacola came up short against Gulf Breeze and fell 43-36.

Despite the loss, Pensacola had strong showings from Braylen Steele, who scored 14 points along with four steals, and Zac Clarke, who scored 13 points.

Escambia suffered their biggest loss yet this season last Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-34 walloping at the hands of Pine Forest. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Escambia has scored all season.

Pensacola's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Escambia, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Pensacola won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, slipping by Escambia 46-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pensacola since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
