Baseball Game Preview: Holly Springs Golden Hawks vs. Cary Imps

The Holly Springs Golden Hawks will face off against the Cary Imps at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Holly Springs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Cary's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Holly Springs needed a bit of extra time to put away Green Level. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gators, sneaking past 4-3. The Golden Hawks haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Noah Rhoades was a major factor no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Rhoades wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brennan McKenna, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. That's the most hits McKenna has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Cary won against Green Hope on Thursday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Imps came out on top against Middle Creek by a score of 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Imps.

The team relied heavily on Taelin Hooker, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Holly Springs pushed their record up to 15-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cary, their victory bumped their record up to 6-15.

Holly Springs beat Cary 4-0 in their previous meeting on Wednesday. Will the Golden Hawks repeat their success, or do the Imps have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
