Recap: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights vs. Matoaca Warriors

The Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights struggled with assists on Saturday (the Matoaca Warriors had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot took a serious blow against Matoaca, falling 68-25. While losing is never fun, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Matoaca is ranked 128th).

Erin Maynes was Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Charlie Potter held things down on the boards with six rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Sydney Richardson was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 15 points, nine assists, and nine steals for Matoaca. The game was Richardson's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Faith Brown, who scored 16 points along with six steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot and nudges their season record down to 3-7. As for Matoaca, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot will be playing in front of their home fans against Kenston Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Matoaca will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Albemarle at 3:30 p.m. on January 5th.
