Basketball Recap: Capitan Comes Up Short

Capitan lost against Lordsburg back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Capitan Tigers fell to the Lordsburg Mavericks 57-53.

Lordsburg found their leader in sophomore Natalie Guerrero, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 24 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Guerrero a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Valarie Guerrero, who posted 17 points.

Capitan has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Lordsburg, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Capitan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-40 win against Mescalero Apache on the 28th. As for Lordsburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 51-36 victory against Cloudcroft on the 30th.
