Volleyball Game Preview: Rock Creek Mustangs vs. Wamego Red Raiders

The Rock Creek Mustangs will head out to take on the Wamego Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rock Creek is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.

Rock Creek is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Holton, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Rock Creek was ranked 20th). The Mustangs walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Wildcats on Saturday.

Rock Creek easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-11.

Meanwhile, Wamego came up short against Silver Lake on Wednesday and fell 2-0. The Red Raiders haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-11.

Wamego's loss dropped their record down to 14-17. As for Rock Creek, their win bumped their record up to 23-4.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Rock Creek has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.1 aces per game. However, it's not like Wamego struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Rock Creek was able to grind out a solid victory over Wamego when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
