Basketball Recap: Burrillville Falls Short Against Ranked West Warwick

On Wednesday, Burrillville faced West Warwick in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Burrillville Broncos came up short against the West Warwick Wizards, falling 87-67. The Broncos have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Despite the loss, Burrillville still got an impressive performance from Jack Dichiaro, who went 5-for-10 en route to 15 points. Those 15 points gave Dichiaro a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Gelinas, who posted ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.

West Warwick's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gregory Benton, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. Benton is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Ian Degnan also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first rebound of the season.

Burrillville's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for West Warwick, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Looking ahead, Burrillville and Juanita Sanchez Complex will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played. West Warwick does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
