Softball Recap: Southwest Guilford Takes a Loss

Southwest Guilford managed to slip by Northern Guilford the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cowboys lost 8-2 to the Nighthawks on Friday. The Cowboys were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Nighthawks earlier this season, when they won 11-9.

Aniya Harris was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Makayla Stefanik, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Southwest Guilford and nudges their season record down to 9-8. As for Northern Guilford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwest Guilford will take on Southeast Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 12.8 runs per game this season. As for Northern Guilford, they will square off against Northwest Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Nighthawks surely won't give up without a fight.
