Basketball Preview: Hendersonville Bearcats vs. Chase Trojans
Hendersonville is 5-0 against the Trojans since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hendersonville Bearcats will head out on the road to challenge the Chase Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Hendersonville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Hendersonville can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They blew past Polk County 86-42 at home. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Hendersonville had established a 35 point advantage.
Cj Landrum and Malachi Simpson were among the main playmakers for Hendersonville as the former dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Landrum has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Coby Retana, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Chase, who are still winless after their 17th game. They were the victim of a tough 87-61 defeat at the hands of East Rutherford on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Chase can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 640th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 276th).
Hendersonville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Chase, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-17.
Everything came up roses for Hendersonville against the Trojans when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 86-34 victory. With Hendersonville ahead 72-18 at the half, the match was all but over already.
