Basketball Recap: Blue Ridge's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Blue Ridge had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against the Chapman Panthers by a score of 47-36. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 45-42 last Friday.

Blue Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Opal Maralit, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Maralit is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Talia Maxwell, who posted eight points in addition to eight boards and six steals.

Blue Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Chapman still got an impressive performance from Kara Twitty, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most boards Twitty has posted since back in February.

Blue Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Chapman, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Blue Ridge will take on Broome in a tournament on Monday. Blue Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for Chapman, they will welcome Walhalla at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
